How many more sales does a discount need?
A 20% discount doesn’t cost 20% of your profit. On a typical margin it costs half of it or more. See how many extra orders your discount has to bring in just to stand still.
How it works
- Margin per order = price without GST − cost of the order.
- The discount comes off the price, so it comes straight off the margin.
- Extra sales needed = margin at full price ÷ margin with the discount − 1.
- The table shows what happens to profit if sales rise by 10%, 25%, 50% or 100%.
