MRP & Channel Margin Calculator · free · 2 minutes

From MRP to what you actually receive.

The MRP on the pack includes GST and every margin in the chain. Put in your channel’s margins and see what is left for you per unit, or the MRP you would need.

The price printed on the pack.

Since 22 September 2025 most goods are 5% or 18%. Use the rate on your invoices.

Most Indian FMCG margins are quoted on the selling price: a retailer who buys at ₹80 and sells at ₹100 has a 20% margin (a 25% markup).

Leave blank if you sell straight to retailers.

Leave blank if there is no tier above the distributor.

As a % of what the channel pays you: schemes, display money, damage and expiry claims.

Optional. Product, packaging and freight to the first tier, before GST. Gives your margin.

Optional, as a % of what you receive. Gives the MRP you would need.

How it works

  1. GST comes out first: MRP ÷ (1 + GST rate).
  2. Each tier, from the retailer back, keeps its margin: on the selling price (price × (1 − margin)) or as a markup (price ÷ (1 + markup)).
  3. Trade schemes and claims come off what the channel pays you.
  4. For a target margin, the chain runs backwards from your cost, and the MRP is rounded up to the next rupee.
